Access and Transportation


New Ulm is located at the intersection of U.S. Highway 14 (running east and west) and MN Highway 15 (running north and south). Interstate I 90 (four lanes running east and west) is a short 40 miles south and U.S. Highway 169 (four lanes running north & south) is only 25 miles to the east.


The New Ulm Municipal Airport features a 5,400′ paved runway with GPS and NDB approaches. New Ulm Flight Service offers charter flights and priority freight 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Minneapolis International Airport is 90 minutes away by car.


Rail service is provided by the Canadain Pacific Railroad. Canadain Pacific can ship goods to any part of the world.


New Ulm is home to a number of large trucking companies. The largest of which is J&R Schugel Trucking. J&R Schugel Trucking, Inc. is a truckload carrier of general commodities. Headquartered in New Ulm, MN, J&R Schugel owns 650 power units and 1050 trailers. The company services the 48 continental U.S. States. Another large trucker based in New Ulm is D&A Trucking. D&A specializes in partial loads and has 48 state authority.
